Transmatch is a consortium of transportation management professionals with decades of experience in the key
aspects of freight transportation operations, finance, marketing and
management. The primary objective of Transmatch is to develop and implement solutions to complex
problems relating to freight transportation especially in the areas of equipment
finance and asset utilization. Recognizing that successful project execution always requires a mix of
disciplinary skills, Transmatch has served as the core of much larger teams of
professionals and companies in selected projects. Transmatch works closely with major
providers of financial, insurance, technology, legal and management services to
develop cross-functional solutions to complex problems such as supply chain
recapitalization, asset visibility and pooling. In sum, we have found that big problems
are often too big for any one company. We assemble the teams that can solve those
problems.
The Transmatch board is comprised of the founders Chris Rooney and Drew Robertson, and outside
counsel Daniel Sullivan. The management team has a solid work history of success in several fields. Mr. Rooney and Stephen
O’Connor have operated the joint venture Vanness Brackenridge since 1989.
Vanness Brackenridge has provided consulting services to freight transportation
clients in over 20 countries. Mr. Robertson and Mark Schulberg have worked
together in the same firms for 18 years. Atlantic Systems and Vanness Brackenridge have worked together in several
team efforts, most recently developing operating plans and traffic analyses and
forecasts for the NS-CSX acquisition of CR and the CN-IC merger. Transmatch also
operates the largest ecommerce site for rail equipment,
www.railmatch.com. The headquarters for Transmatch is in
New York City. The broad geographic scope of the industry and the locations of members of Transmatch team imply a
virtual organization spanning North America.
Prior Experience: Drew
Robertson leads ASI’s transportation consulting and financial analysis
businesses. Atlantic Systems’
clients have included Union Pacific, Canadian National and Illinois Central in
various rail merger proceedings; Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, DB, and CSFB for
rail market research, Bell Atlantic, GE Capital and Avon for corporate planning
modeling; and Nikko and Nomura for program trading and money management
services.
Mr. Robertson was
the co-founder of Railmatch, the online trading floor for railcars and
locomotives. Railmatch’s principal
achievement is it’s continued survival after the collapse of most other dotcoms
in the B2B space. The inventory on
Railmatch in early 2002 includes over 2000 cars and locomotives on both buy and
sell sides.
Since Sept. 11,
Mr. Robertson has been director of the Freight Transportation Security
Consortium, a group of over 25 companies in the asset tracking and management
industries. FTSC is a neutral, open
platform designed to improve the security of the hazmat supply chain using
modern location and sensoring technologies. Mr. Robertson’s specific
responsibilities include security device financing and related insurance
issues.
